Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do if the app does not work correctly after the update?

We advice you to delete the app from your device and install it again in the App Store. If this does not help please send us an email.

I don’t hear sound in LetterSchool

This is probably because you’ve muted the sound on your iPad. Please read about this on our special page

For whom is LetterSchool suitable?

LetterSchool is tailored to individual use by kids from 3 to 7 years of age. Its didactic approach works wonderfully at home, in the classroom, in the car, on the back of a camel…

The letters aren’t written between lines. Did you forget them?

No, we left them out intentionally. First and foremost, a young child needs to learn correct letter shapes before having to worry about fitting them between lines.

Why two levels?

In a word: practice—and lots of it! To achieve the best results, the player should practice all the letters again after a while; hence two levels. Having two levels also accommodates differences in children’s styles and needs. Some players may simply stop after completing the easier silver level, while others will want to advance to the more challenging gold level with its free-form writing.
Hint: once you reached the gold level, you can reset the scores in the settings to go back to the silver level.

How can I get to the gold level?

You get automatic access to the gold level (orange main screen) as soon as you finish an entire set of letters or numbers in the silver level (blue main screen). A set (abc, ABC or 123) is finished when every letter or number has been successfully played, so that the player has earned a star for each letter/number. Those little stars are then “cashed in” and they disappear into the big star in the upper left corner of the main screen screen.
Hint: once you reached the gold level, you can reset the scores in the settings to go back to the silver level.

What’s the difference between the levels?

The second level works basically the same way as the first one, but you get a whole new set of games to play, and the writing game is more of a challenge (free-form writing).

How do I know in which level I’m playing?

Look at the color of the main screen (menu): in the silver level the menu is blue and in the gold level it’s orange.

I love LetterSchool, but I wish it offered words as well. Is that possible?

First things first! Writing words is much easier once the individual letters are well automatized. Writing words between lines is the next step and will be offered in one of our future apps. Be sure to leave your email address in the stay informed box at the bottom of this page if you’re interested.

There aren’t any instructions. How do kids know what to do?

LetterSchool guides a player by providing subtle yet highly effective visual and auditory feedback when it intelligently detects that he or she needs a hand. There’s no reading required.
Hint: don’t forget to turn on your device’s sound. ;-)

Why do I see games on the website that I can’t find in the app?

The app’s two levels each have a different set of games. The animation you’re missing in the silver level will show up in the gold level. Collect stars for all your letters and you’ll get there!

Do you guys make any other apps?

We’re definitely working on other apps. Be sure to leave your email address in the stay informed box at the bottom of this page if you’re interested.

I didn’t find the answer to my question here. Can I contact you?

You sure can. Use our email form for your question, and we’ll do our best to answer you as soon as possible.

The Settings Panel

Playing LetterSchool is incredibly simple, so an explanation on how to play would be overkill. But for completeness’ sake, we do provide a brief overview of the options in the Settings panel:
